BACK COUNTRY ROLLOVER CLAIMS ONE LIFE,
CRITICALLY INJURES ANOTHER

A man and woman from Centennial, Colorado were involved in a four-wheeling rollover accident on Saturday, July 28, according to a Park County Sheriff's Office news release issued Monday.

The news release states that a cell phone call came in to Park County Dispatch around 4:30 pm Saturday from a party who reported that a vehicle had rolled over near Whale Peak. The area is in Park County, approximately 2.5 miles north of Jefferson Lake near the Continental Divide.

Two vehicles were reportedly four-wheeling together when one of the vehicles had trouble negotiating a switchback and slid off the trail. The vehicle then tumbled and rolled almost a half mile to the bottom of the valley. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Bradley Louderbhek, and the passenger, identified as Darra Lee Goodman, were transported by their friends to an area in Summit County where they were met by Summit County Search and Rescue. Louderbhek was then transported by Flight for Life to St. Anthony's Central Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Park County Coroner Sharon Morris stated that Goodman died of injuries she sustained in the accident. The Coroner has ordered an autopsy.

"Back country trails can be very dangerous," Morris stated. "This isn't the first accident of this type that we have had in this location."
