Press Release: North-West Fire Protection
Shortly before noon on June 30, 2008, North-West Fire Protection District was called to a structure fire at 715 Main St in Fairplay. Within minutes, firefighters arrived at a mobile home with smoke billowing from all of the windows, vents, and eaves.
Crews were quickly able to gain access to the interior of the home. Once inside, visibility was extremely limited and the heat kept firefighters slowed to a crawl, but they soon found the fire in the rear of the structure near a bathroom. The fire was controlled within 18 minutes of the initial 911 call.
Investigators remained on scene for several hours and are working to determine a cause. Due to the heat and smoke damage the home is uninhabitable. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire
