LINKS TO PARK COUNTY ELECTION AND FINANCE ISSUES - 2008
$1.5 MILLION BUDGET DEFICIT GOES UNREPORTED (Hopkins, Oct 29 08)
Editorial Note: On the county website, as of November 20, 2008, Commissioners haven't gotten around to publishing their 2009 budget that shows the millions in deficit spending planned for next year. They may not want the taxpayers to easily see what they're going to throw away in 2009. Or the first budget passed might just have been for show to get Tighe reelected and has since been completely changed. To quote our Finance Department, "We don't have to publish these financial reports on the website at all if we don't want to. We can make [the public] go pay for paper copies at the library."

Objection to Tighe's Tax Gift to Special Interest (Sep 18 08)
The statute requires that the published report include the name of the payee, amount, and a description of the material or services furnished to the county.

Key Things You Should Know About Your County's Spending
The issue remains that the release of the 2007 financial reports is unnecessarily late this year and the explanations of why it should have been delayed until after the beginning of mail voting fall flat.
