THEFT OF EQUIPMENT PARTS OUTRAGES GUFFEY FIREFIGHTERS
Fire Department Asks for the Public's Help

Guffey residents are outraged by a theft of parts from South Park County Fire Protection District. According to Fire Board Chairman S.J. "Sam" Calanni, unknown parties removed cooling system parts, including radiator and water pump, from the District's Apparatus Unit #941, a 1975 Dodge roughly equivalent to a one ton truck. The vehicle was parked at Station 3 (Pike Trails). "A radiator removal is not an easy task," Calanni said in an email asking the public for information. "This theft disabled one of our important emergency response vehicles and endangered the lives of those in our Guffey Community," he added.

According to Calanni, the theft occurred sometime between midday on June 3 and midday June 5. "The Unit was operationally checked out on June 3 and was in good operating condition," Calanni said. On Saturday, June 6, the District Executive Officer checked the station and noted liquid under the truck and found the hood not fully closed. He opened the hood and was shocked to find the radiator, water pump, fan assembly, and hoses were gone.

Anyone with possible information on this incident is asked to contact the Park County Sheriff's Office (719) 836-2494, or contact SPCFPD Chief Gene Stanley at (719) 689-9479 or gene.stanley@guffeyfire.net.
