Bailey Day 2007 is coming to transform the streets of this mountain area on Saturday, June 30. For one summer day, the quiet town nestled at the foot of Crow Hill on US Highway 285 will be bustling with booths, activities and crowds of visitors. Local merchants and county officials come together for one of the first Park County events of the summer. Less than an hour southwest of Denver, adults and children alike will find plenty to see and do. |

The Race for the Rescue is a 5K race/walk starting at 8 a.m. Also, bright and early, the famous Pancake Breakfast will be served at Platte Canyon Community Church. For those with different ideas about breakfast, look for the ever-popular Beer Garden! Food, artisan and vendor booths will line the streets all day and you will be entertained by some outstanding local musical groups.
At 9 a.m., VFW Post 8661 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The Kids Parade starts at the bandstand (Cutthroat Cafe) at 9:00 a.m. and travels aaallllll the waaaaayyyy down Main Street - that's forwards and backwards - so creative kids can show off brightly decorated bikes, wagons and strollers. (Perhaps someday, they will have the parade stand still in the street and let the crowds just walk by it.... Except that could be a problem if the parade is longer than the street.) A special area will be open with all kinds of activities to keep the little ones busy. Be sure to visit the historic McGraw Park behind Rustic Square and learn about Bailey and the surrounding area. The Quilting Exhibit and Royal Llama Adventures are scheduled to return this year; and don't miss the movie 'The Old Colorado & Southern and Engine #9' at 11 a.m. New events this year include a logcutting contest, and blacksmith and broadaxe demonstrations. |
