A committee to seek grant funding for the restoration of the Como School Complex has been formed. Anne Bridgewater, a Como area resident, is heading up the committee that plans to seek funding from the State Historical Society and other sources.
The committee met Wednesday, February 14th, with Park County Historic Preservation Director Linda Balough to review the historic assessment of the properties. The historic assessment is a 100-page document that outlines the historic significance of the buildings and the immediate needs for preservation and restoration.
According to the historic assessment, two buildings comprise the complex. The buildings date from 1883 and 1884. The elementary school building currently serves as a community center for the Como area.
A fundraising potluck dinner and bingo will be held Saturday, February 24th at 6 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the historic preservation fund. For more information contact Bridgewater at 719-836-2298.
