DISPATCHER TRAINEE ARRESTED ON DUI CHARGE

A Park County Sheriff's dispatcher trainee was arrested on charges of DUI in Fairplay Tuesday afternoon, July 11th. Guadalupe Lowell was stopped by police as a result of a REDDI report, according to Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener. Following the initial stop by a Town of Fairplay officer, Lowell was arrested and transferred to Park County for sobriety evaluation.

Lowell failed a roadside test, according to Wegener, then blew twice the legal limit on a breath test. An internal investigation will proceed, to be completed within 20 days. A decision on termination or other action will be made following the investigation.

"We have a hard time getting good applicants for dispatch positions," the Sheriff said. "When something like this happens, it's hard on all of the communications officers because we're short-handed."
