Update: Preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 25, 2006, at 11:00 am. The District Attorney's office has filed charges of reckless manslaughter, third degree assault, two felony counts of theft by receiving, and one misdemeanor theft by receiving.

The Park County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting on Boreas Pass north of Como, Colorado, on Thursday morning at approximately 9:49 am. Upon arrival, officers found the body of 23-year-old Matthew McCombe. The death appeared to be the result of a gunshot wound.
Following an investigation on the scene, the deceased's 20-year-old brother, Michael, was arrested and charged with theft, manslaughter, aggravated motor vehicle theft and third degree assault. According to a news release issued by the Park County Sheriff's Office, Michael is also being held on charges of AWOL from the US Military and outstanding warrants from Longmont and Weld County. The shooting is under continuing investigation by Park County authorities and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
An autopsy has been ordered and will be conducted Saturday morning. Final results will not be available for a few days, according to Park County Coroner Sharon Morris.
