The Park County Sheriff's Office has released a statement indicating that portions of the September 2006 Platte Canyon School shooting investigation report will be made available to the public on Tuesday, March 27, 2007. The District Attorney and and Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigated the events leading up to, and the law enforcement response to the attack by gunman Duane Morrison on students at the school. Morrison ended the standoff that day by killing 16-year-old Emily Keyes, and then himself.
According to today's statement, Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener will be
conducting a news conference at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 27th at the Platte Canyon Fire
Station # 2 located at 153 Delwood, Bailey, Colorado. Sheriff Wegener will be
discussing aspects of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s report on the Platte Canyon
High School shooting.
Portions of the report will be published on the Park County Website, including a 14 page CBI summary, a timeline of events, the Duane Morrison letter, and the FBI analysis of the Morrison letter .
The Sheriff also indicates that the lengthy report will be made available in full, less portions redacted to protect victims, sometime in the near future. The entire report is too large to publish in its entirety.
