Two Park County Sheriff's Department officers fired in November have filed appeals of their terminations. Former Lt. Ed Rasch and former Undersheriff Don Anthony are entitled to hearings regarding the termination of their employment under department policy, according to Sheriff Fred Wegener. The hearings will examine issues of possible wrongful termination in response to letters of appeal filed with the Sheriff. A hearing is scheduled for former Lt. Rasch on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 10:00am. Former Undersheriff Don Anthony's appeal will be heard the following day at 10:00am.
Both terminations followed outside investigations requested by Sheriff Wegener in October 2005. The investigation regarding Rasch resulted in his termination and arrest on November 16. Anthony was subsequently terminated on November 18 for department policy violations. An investigation into violations by Anthony has been concluded according to Wegener, but the written report has not yet been submitted to the Sheriff.
Park County Jail Captain Monte Gore is currently serving as Acting Undersheriff for the department.
