Staples In; Williams, Hartshorn Out

Incumbent District 1 Commissioner, Don Staples, has submitted a petition with sufficient signatures to place him on the August primary ballot. He will face challenger John Tighe, who won his ballot position at Republican County Assembly in May. Mike Williams, also challenging for District 1 at Assembly, did not file a petition to be included in the primary. The winner of the Republican primary will face Independent candidate Philip Morse, if Morse successfully submits the required valid signatures by July 2. There is no Democratic candidate for the position of District 1 Commissioner.

Carolyn Hartshorn, who missed the required 30% of votes to be placed on the ballot at County Assembly, also did not file a petition to run in the primary. Incumbent Leni Walker will run against Democratic candidate Tiffany DiBlasi in November.
